Bhutan
Women's Project- What
could be better than supporting cultural institutions that
provide women a basic education, while passing on the spiritual
traditions of their culture.
Say
Yes for Children
School
for Orphans-Imagine a child too
poor to afford even a free education. Imagine being
this
poor and having no parents. The Simtokha Orphanage in Thimpu
Bhutan takes care of these children. Even more, it provides
a unique blend
of traditional spiritual education with a modern secular curriculum.
Protecting
Endangered Cultures
Bhutan
Cultural Center- A highly focused endeavor
that will help to preserve Bhutan’s precious qualities
before they are lost to the world forever.
Preserving
the Arts
Performing
Arts Center of Bhutan-
The country of Bhutan is under
siege. On the battlefield is an ancient wisdom culture colliding
with "Do You Want
to Be a Millionaire". The “Performing Arts Center
of Bhutan” will be a living institution, playing a key
role in preserving Bhutan’s culture by offering a contemporary
outlet for performances of traditional music, dance, theater,
film, educational programs, and other special events.
Historic
Preservation
Bhutan
Sewala Sanctuary- If Bhutan had a "center of peace" it might
be Sewala Sanctuary. This famous monastic university has produced
most of the Je Khenpos—the spiritual heads of all Bhutan.
Yet these ancient painted walls are caving in, supported
by
beams that strain to prevent young monks from being crushed.
Thailand
Education Projects
Helping
Thailand's Children - We
have seen so many instances where a mere $800 has literally saved an
entire family from losing their home and losing their land - - land which
often supported over a dozen people, from little children to great grandparents.
Amicus volunteers are committed to helping Thailand's poorest families.
Holders

Tashigang
School and Sanctuary -One
of the greatest living masters in Bhutan, Lopen Kado lives
in a forest
hermitage high up in the mountains. There he looks after
the education of many young children, and older more accomplished
spiritual practitioners, who live in the mountain’s
solitude practicing for the benefit of all beings. Together
we can preserve the heart of what makes Bhutan truly Bhutan
- including these sacred and authentic teachings passed down
by a few rare individuals.
Even
Helpers Need a Helping Hand
The
Amicus Fund-While every Amicusproject touches the lives of children, families and
communities, Amicus itself would literally close its doors
tomorrow if no volunteers showed up in the morning (or wee
hours of the night!).
